1. Hard Rock vs. Soft Rock: The Golden Rule
The biggest mistake we see is using the wrong machine for the wrong stone.
For hard and abrasive rocks (like granite, basalt, or river pebbles): You need a combination of a Jaw Crusher for primary crushing and a Cone Crusher for secondary crushing. Cone crushers handle hard rock with much less wear and tear on spare parts, saving you massive maintenance costs over time.
For softer, less abrasive rocks (like limestone): An impact crusher can work wonders to give you great cubical shape, but putting it to work on hard granite will eat up your blow bars in weeks.
2. Stationary Crusher Plant vs. Mobile Crusher
Should you build a permanent concrete foundation or go mobile?
Stationary Plant: Best if your quarry life is long (5+ years) and your raw materials are fed from a fixed location. It offers high stability and lower initial equipment costs.
Mobile Crusher (Tracked or Wheeled): Perfect if you run a contractors’ business, process construction waste, or have multiple small quarry sites. You pull up, start crushing, and move to the next spot without expensive foundation costs.
3. Focus on "Cost Per Ton", Not Just the Machine Price
A cheap quarry machine usually comes with expensive hidden costs. When evaluating aggregates equipment, always ask the manufacturer about:
The lifespan of the jaw plates and cone liners.
Power consumption per hour.
How fast spare parts can be shipped to your country.
