In standard jaw crushers, a set of shims of equal thickness is placed between the adjustment seat and the rear frame wall. Increasing or decreasing the number of shim layers reduces or enlarges the crusher's discharge opening. This method allows for multi-stage adjustment, results in a more compact machine structure, and reduces equipment weight. However, adjustment requires stopping the machine.

The European version jaw crusher uses wedge adjustment. The relative movement of two wedges between the adjustment seat and the rear frame wall achieves discharge opening adjustment. The front wedge can move forward and backward and is integrated with the toggle plate seat to form the adjustment seat. The rear wedge is the adjusting wedge, which can move up and down. The inclined surfaces of the two wedges face each other. Moving the rear wedge up or down via a screw rod adjusts the discharge opening size.
This method enables stepless adjustment, is convenient, time-saving, can be performed without stopping the machine, and is simple, safe, user-friendly, intelligent, and efficient.

4. Bearing Seat Fixing Method

• Standard Jaw Crusher: Welded. The bearing seat is welded to the frame, resulting in a shorter service life.

• European Version Jaw Crusher: Bolted. The bearing seat features an integral cast steel structure and is connected to the frame with bolts, ensuring perfect alignment, greatly enhancing the radial strength of the bearing seat, and extending service life.

5. Jaw Plate Structure
For large jaw crushers (e.g., 900x1200 and above), both movable and fixed jaw plates consist of three segments. For medium and small crushers, jaw plates are usually a single piece.
Regarding segment size: the middle segment is smaller, while the upper and lower segments are larger. There is also a wedge-shaped component on top, called the fixed wedge or hold-down wedge. The jaw plates are fixed via bolts to the middle segment and the hold-down wedge.
For both standard and European version jaw plates, the choice between solid or segmented jaw plates can be made based on the equipment model size.

Advantages of Three-Piece Jaw Plates:

1. For large jaw crushers, a single-piece jaw plate is very large and heavy. Using a three-piece design makes assembly and installation more convenient.

2. Three-piece jaw plates are relatively easier to disassemble.

3. Key Benefit: The three-piece design features a smaller middle segment and two larger, identically sized end segments. If the bottom segment wears out severely, it can be swapped with the top segment for continued use, saving costs.

6. Jaw Plate and Guard Plate Shape

• European Version Jaw Crusher: Toothed shape

The guard plate (located above the jaw plate) in standard jaw crushers is flat. The European version uses toothed guard plates, which can also participate in crushing material. Compared to flat guard plates, this increases the effective length of the jaw plate and improves crushing efficiency.
Toothed jaw plates provide more crushing force directions to the material, facilitating faster material breakage and higher crushing efficiency. Additionally, they help control product particle shape.

Many people struggle with the choice: are domestic jaw crushers better, or are European version jaw crushers better? The former holds a certain advantage in price and is cheaper, suitable for production lines with low investment and not high production requirements.
